Women tip of the Day

All work and no play makes Jane an unhealthy girl. In its 2009 report "Her Life Depends on It II," the Women's Sports Foundation (WSF) in East Meadow, New York, concludes that women that play sports have a lower incidence of depression than those who don't. "Sports are generally team-oriented, which helps women and girls establish a support network that extends beyond the playing field," says Marjorie Snyder, Ph.D., research director for the WSF. Consider swapping your gym sessions for company softball once or twice a week, or check out your local ROLLERDERBY (yes I added this) league. An extra benefit: Playing sports from an early age lowers the risk of getting breast cancer and osteoporosis later in life, the WSF report says.
