This weekend falling right after our busiest vacation was a test of endurance, but we made it on the other side more blessed than when it began. My people's (Citizen Potawatomi Nation) family reunion/pow wow was this weekend in Shawnee, OK. Our family was one of the honored families this year.
I also had the privilege of receiving my Potawatomi name this morning from Eva Marie Carney, in ceremony, surrounded by my husband Steven Kitchens , dad Jeff Jones, sister Kelsey Ratcliff, brother Gary Jones, and niece Zoë Jones. I'm officially Bojkwansikwe or Dragonfly woman. This is something I've desired for a very long time.
Now I need to try to catch up on rest before I head back to work tomorrow.
